Surrogacy is a fertility option for parents-to-be who are unable to have children of their own or for whom pregnancy would pose too much of a health risk. Using a surrogate mother, a couple or a single parent can have a child using the sperm and eggs of their choice. Either from themselves or from a donor. To have a child genetically related to them or a child with less risk of genetic diseases and conditions. However, using a surrogate mother is not your only option. Fostering can be a much more difficult job than having a child through surrogacy or adoption. Particularly a young child through the latter. But it can fill your need to parent children in need. There may also be treatments that can help you give birth to a child with your own eggs. Such as in vitro fertilization, gamete intrafallopian transfer and zygote intrafallopian transfer. Surrogacy presents a number of complications and expenses. But it may be the best option for you. However, don’t believe that it’s your only option until you’ve explored the alternatives.
